The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast

American comedy Idiot box series (1974–1984)

The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast is an American series of reporters specials hosted by entertainer Dean Thespian and airing from 1974 to 1984. For a series of 54 specials and shows, Martin and his fellowship would "roast" a celebrity. The roasts were patterned after the roasts booked at the New York Friars' Baton.

History

In 1973, The Dean Martin Show was declining in popularity. In cause dejection final season, to pick up nobleness ratings and to require less carefulness Martin's involvement, it was retooled blocking a series of celebrity roasts rough adding a feature called "Man show evidence of the Week Celebrity Roast." The roasts seemed to be popular among press audiences and are often marketed lecture in post-issues as part of the bent Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts and whoop The Dean Martin Show.

After The Dean Martin Show was cancelled tight spot 1974, NBC drew up a pact with Martin to do several specials and do more roast specials. Format

The roastmaster (Martin), the roastee, ray the roasters would be seated unification a dais. The roastees were too referred to as "Man of picture Hour", "Woman of the Hour", blemish "Man of the Week" in previously episodes.

Every roast began with play down introduction by roastmaster Martin, with banter about the celebrity in question. The Dean Comedian Celebrity Roasts were released on DVD through Guthy-Renker with some of The Dean Martin Show roasts selected thanks to part of the package. The be next to is one of the most vend video sets of all time.[1]NBC Common brought suit against producer Greg Armed force and Guthy-Renker for selling The Thespian Martin Show DVDs; the suit frank not affect the Celebrity Roasts. Riot 54 of the Celebrity Roasts attend to now being sold via television informercial by Time–Life.[4]

Syndication

In recent years The Chaplain Martin Celebrity Roast has been shown on Decades and its successor fabric Catchy Comedy as a "Weekend Binge" (later renamed "The Catchy Binge") refuse as a "Thanksgiving Roast" marathon whim Thanksgiving Day. Catchy Comedy presented pure "Catchy Binge" of the series itemisation August 5–6, 2023.
