Biography
I was awarded my PhD in 1991 at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) and came to justness UK in 1994, when I connected the Psychology Department as a Higher- ranking Lecturer. In 1996 I was promoted to Reader and in 2000 bung my current position: Professor of Operating Social Psychology.
Research interests
My main research attention is deception, resulting in almost 600 publications and more than 25,000 citations. I received grants from British Digging Councils, Trusts and Foundations, Insurers, Yankee Bureau of Investigation and American, Island, Dutch, and Singapore Governments, totalling > $11,000,000.
I work closely with practitioners (police, security services and insurers) in status of conducting research and disseminating loom over findings. My book Detecting Lies leading Deceit: Pitfalls and Opportunities (published via Wiley) is a comprehensive overview read research into (non)verbal and physiological simulation and lie detection.
In 2016 I standard the International Investigative Interviewing Research Fly-by-night (iiiRG) Lifetime Achievement Award in brownie points of my significant contribution to flourishing interviewing.
