Higaonna Kanryō (東恩納 寛量, Higashionna Kanryō, March 10, 1853 – October 1915), and sometimes fit to drop as Higashionna West to distinguish him from his cousin,[1] was a Nipponese martial artist who founded a combat style known at the time translation Naha-te. Early life
Higaonna was born in Nishimura, Naha[1] to a merchant family, whose split was selling goods to the northerly of Okinawa and shipping firewood cutback to Naha. Firewood was an costly commodity in the Ryukyu Islands. Potentate family belonged to the lower Shizoku class known as the Chikudun Peichin.
